Quality CMM Programmer / Metrology Specialist- 2nd Shift
Our client is seeking an experienced Quality CMM Programmer / Metrology Specialist to join its quality team. This is a hands-on technical position with responsibility for CMM programming, dimensional inspection, metrology, First Article Inspection (FAI), and measurement systems. The individual will play an important role in ensuring the dimensional accuracy and quality of components and assemblies throughout the manufacturing process.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will be a hands-on metrology professional with strong CMM programming capabilities and a solid understanding of dimensional inspection and GD&T. The individual should be comfortable working in a precision manufacturing environment, interpreting complex technical requirements, investigating quality issues, and partnering with multiple departments to drive effective solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Program, operate, troubleshoot, and optimize CMMs and metrology software for dimensional inspection.
- Interpret drawings, specifications, and GD&T requirements; develop inspection plans and measurement strategies.
- Perform First Article Inspections (FAIs), dimensional layouts, and inspections of incoming, in-process, and finished products.
- Prepare inspection reports, maintain quality records, and support calibration of measurement equipment.
- Investigate dimensional and quality issues, perform root-cause analysis, and support corrective actions and nonconformance resolution.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing, Production, Quality, and suppliers to resolve technical and quality issues.
- Perform manual inspections using precision measurement equipment, including calipers, micrometers, height gauges, bore gauges, and optical comparators.
- Provide technical guidance and training on inspection methods and measurement techniques.
- Support quality management system requirements and drive continuous improvement in inspection processes, measurement accuracy, and overall quality performance.
Qualifications & Experience
- High School Diploma/GED required; Associate degree in a related technical field preferred
- 3+ years of manufacturing quality experience, including 2+ years of CMM programming/operation preferred.
- Strong GD&T and engineering drawing interpretation skills.
- Experience with CMM software such as PC-DMIS, Calypso, MCOSMOS, or similar.
- Experience with First Article Inspections, dimensional layouts, and precision measurement equipment.
- Working knowledge of ISO 9001 quality systems and Microsoft Office.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Effective communication skills and ability to work independently and cross-functionally.
- Experience in CNC machining, precision manufacturing, or preferred a similar environment.
