Surface Lab Technician- CNC
Shift: 2nd Shift | 2:00 PM – 10:30 PM

Position Overview

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare lens blanks for processing through blocking, generating, polishing, and de-blocking operations.
• Operate and monitor CNC generators and automated polishing equipment to produce precision lens surfaces.
• Perform laser engraving and ensure accurate placement of required lens identification markings.
• Safely de-block, clean, and prepare finished lenses for downstream coating processes.
• Inspect lenses for scratches, pits, waves, and other defects using lensometers and specialized lighting.
• Follow job-ticket specifications, production procedures, and quality requirements with a high degree of accuracy.
• Perform basic equipment monitoring, adjustments, and calibration-related tasks as required.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe production environment.

Qualifications

• Strong mechanical and technical aptitude with the ability to operate computer-controlled equipment.
• High attention to detail and ability to handle delicate optical materials.
• Basic math skills, including algebra, decimals, and reading numerical specifications.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and work effectively in a fast-paced production environment.
• Previous optical laboratory, CNC, or precision manufacturing experience preferred.
• Willingness to learn and train on specialized optical manufacturing processes.
