Warehouse Manager

Location: Petersburg, VA
Schedule: Full-Time | On-Site
Salary: $90,000-$100,000

We are recruiting an experienced Warehouse Manager for an established automotive parts distribution operation in Petersburg, VA. This position will oversee day-to-day warehouse operations within a high-volume distribution environment supporting an inventory of more than 40,000 SKUs.

This is a hands-on leadership position for someone who understands how to manage people, inventory, workflow, productivity, and shipping performance. The Warehouse Manager will be responsible for keeping the operation organized and efficient while developing a strong team and ensuring customer orders are processed accurately and on schedule.

We are looking for a manager who is comfortable being visible on the warehouse floor, setting expectations, reviewing performance data, solving operational problems, and holding the team accountable for results.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead daily warehouse operations with responsibility for workflow, staffing, productivity, inventory accuracy, quality, and safety.
  • Provide leadership and direction to warehouse supervisors, leads, and team members.
  • Plan staffing and labor requirements based on order volume, operational priorities, and shipping deadlines.
  • Oversee outbound fulfillment, including picking, quality control, packing, staging, shipping, and carrier handoff.
  • Monitor warehouse performance and key metrics, including productivity, order accuracy, backlog, overtime, damages, and on-time shipping.
  • Establish clear performance expectations and hold employees accountable for productivity, quality, attendance, safety, and conduct.
  • Coach and develop employees, address performance concerns, and partner with Human Resources when corrective action is required.
  • Oversee scheduling, attendance, timekeeping, overtime, and effective utilization of warehouse labor.
  • Identify operational bottlenecks and process issues, determine root causes, and implement practical improvements.
  • Maintain effective inventory flow and support inventory control, cycle counts, receiving, overstock management, and product movement.
  • Coordinate with sales, customer service, inventory, purchasing, and other departments to resolve order and inventory issues.
  • Ensure employees are properly trained and have the equipment, systems, and resources necessary to perform their jobs effectively.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe warehouse environment and ensure compliance with established safety procedures.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives designed to increase efficiency, accuracy, and overall warehouse performance.
  • Lead special projects and provide additional operational support as needed.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of warehouse or distribution leadership experience, including direct responsibility for people, workflow, productivity, and operational results.
  • Previous experience managing a warehouse team in a distribution, fulfillment, parts, or high-SKU environment strongly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of warehouse operations, inventory control, order fulfillment, shipping, and material flow.
  • Experience managing supervisors or team leads is preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage staffing, scheduling, attendance, timekeeping, and overtime.
  • Experience using warehouse performance metrics and operational data to identify problems and improve results.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to coach employees, establish accountability, and build an effective team.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple operational demands in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and experience working with warehouse, inventory, shipping, or ERP systems.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor's degree in operations, logistics, supply chain, business, or a related field is preferred.
  • Forklift and warehouse equipment experience is preferred.
  • Ability to work on the warehouse floor for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds when necessary.
