Job Description

CUSTOMER RETURNS ASSOCIATE
Reports to: Quality Assurance Supervisor
Department: Quality Assurance / 256

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Create and initiate the Moss Motors internal return documentation Sales Credit Memo (SCM).
  • Visually inspect packages and note possible shipping damage and document damage returns on SCM and record (photograph damage) following the UPS six-point procedure. File photos on M:drive following Returns protocol.
  • Review return documentation supplied with return product.
  • Inspect returned product condition while keeping the customer comments in mind with the emphasis of determining the disposition of the product. Note any damage, signs of use or missing components on SCM.
  • Make the decision on the correct disposition action such as Back To Stock (BTS), Return To Vendor (RTV), Scrap or if the product does not meet Moss Motors return or warranty policy place part(s) in the holding area and note on SCM.
  • Determine the correct internal warehouse location to stock parts based on product action disposition such as Warehouse One (WH1) or Warehouse One Returns (WH1RET)
  • Record issues reported by customer as well as any issues noted while performing the receipt inspection on the SCM. Note any recommendation on approval or denial of return as needed.
  • If necessary, repackage return product and place product in BTS location for WH1 put-away.
  • Assist the Customer Service department with any questions or clarification required to process the clerical action of the return process.
  • Physical scrapping of product that has been adjusted out of inventory
  • All other duties as assigned

REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Previous warehouse, inventory, quality assurance or returns processing experience is required.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to make sound decisions based on company policies.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to work with others as a team.
  • Ability to reason and negotiate with others.
  • Basic math skills required.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High School Diploma or GED required

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Regularly stand, walk, and sit for extended periods of time
  • Hearing, sight, dexterity of hands
  • Ability to climb, stoop, kneel, reach, push, pull, grasp, and perform repetitive motions
  • Climb ladders of varying heights
  • Lift moderate to heavy objects up to 50 lbs. to height of approximately 4 feet
