CNC Machinist | Reports to: Manufacturing Team Lead
Position Overview
The CNC Machinist will set up and operate CNC and manual machining equipment to meet production requirements while maintaining high standards for quality, accuracy, and safety.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Set up and operate CNC and manual machining equipment to meet production requirements, including DMG Mori, Haas VF2, Kunzmann, GF, and DMG Mori NLX2500 lathe equipment.
- Interpret blueprints, metric drawings, and work orders to accurately perform machining operations.
- Select and install appropriate cutting tools, fixtures, and workholding equipment.
- Perform offsets, tool changes, and in-process adjustments to maintain required tolerances.
- Monitor machine operations to ensure efficiency, accuracy, and product quality.
- Inspect finished and in-process components using precision measuring equipment, including micrometers, bore gauges, and height gauges.
- Troubleshoot machining issues and recommend improvements to tooling, processes, and workflow.
- Follow standard work procedures, quality requirements, and 5S practices.
- Crosstrain and provide support on other machines or value streams as needed.
- Maintain a positive and professional team environment.
- Support company values, production goals, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Minimum of 3 years of CNC machining experience.
- 3-axis CNC machining experience required.
- Working knowledge of common GD&T symbols.
- Experience operating manual machines, including mills, lathes, or grinders.
- Ability to read and interpret metric drawings and engineering blueprints.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality parts.
- Ability to adapt to a changing production environment and effectively multitask.
- Ability to stand and/or walk for at least 8 hours per shift.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
