Job Description

Outbound Warehouse Manager

Location: Petersburg, VA
Schedule: Full-Time | On-Site
Pay: $25.00-$32.00 per hour

We are seeking an experienced Outbound Warehouse Manager to lead daily shipping and fulfillment operations for an established automotive parts distribution operation in Petersburg, VA. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for the people, workflow, productivity, accuracy, and safe execution of outbound warehouse operations.

The facility supports a large, high-volume parts inventory with more than 40,000 SKUs, making strong organization, inventory awareness, and the ability to keep orders moving accurately and on schedule essential.

The ideal candidate is a visible warehouse leader who is comfortable working directly on the floor, setting priorities, managing labor, coaching employees, monitoring performance, and stepping in to resolve issues as they arise.

Responsibilities

  • Lead daily outbound operations, including picking, quality control, invoicing, packing, staging, shipping, and carrier handoff.
  • Plan staffing and workflow around order volume, shipping deadlines, service priorities, and available labor.
  • Assign work, monitor progress, and hold team members accountable for productivity, quality, attendance, safety, and performance.
  • Manage employee schedules, attendance, timekeeping, overtime, breaks, missed punches, and timecard accuracy.
  • Train, coach, and develop warehouse employees while addressing performance concerns when necessary.
  • Monitor key performance indicators including orders shipped, units per labor hour, shipping accuracy, backlog, overtime, damages, and on-time completion.
  • Identify workflow or operational problems, determine root causes, and implement practical solutions.
  • Coordinate with inventory, inbound operations, sales, customer service, and other departments to resolve order and inventory issues.
  • Ensure employees have the training, equipment, documentation, and system access needed to perform successfully.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized warehouse environment and ensure safety procedures are consistently followed.
  • Assist with inventory control, cycle counts, overstock management, receiving, and other warehouse functions as needed.

Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of warehouse leadership experience with direct responsibility for employees, workflow, staffing, and operational results.
  • Strong understanding of outbound warehouse operations, shipping processes, inventory flow, and productivity metrics.
  • Experience scheduling employees, managing attendance and timecards, and controlling overtime.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead employees, set expectations, coach performance, and maintain accountability.
  • Strong organizational, communication, problem-solving, and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and meet shipping deadlines in a fast-paced warehouse environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and the ability to learn warehouse management, shipping, and timekeeping systems.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree in logistics, supply chain, operations, business, or a related field is preferred.
  • Forklift experience is preferred; certification training may be provided.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and remain active on the warehouse floor throughout the workday.

Benefits

  • Medical Insurance
  • Dental Insurance
  • Vision Insurance
  • 401(k) with Company Match
  • Paid Vacation
  • Paid Sick Leave
  • Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
  • Employee Discount

Medical, dental, and vision coverage becomes effective on the first day of the month following 30 days of employment.

About the Opportunity

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced warehouse supervisor or manager who enjoys being involved in the operation–not managing from behind a desk. We are looking for someone who can organize the day, lead the team, keep orders moving, solve problems, and maintain high standards for accuracy and customer service.

If you have experience leading outbound warehouse or distribution operations and are ready to take ownership of a busy fulfillment team, we would like to hear from you.

Equal Opportunity Employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to any characteristic protected by applicable law.
