Job Description

Lingo Staffing is looking for an experienced Production Supervisor who can work Friday/Saturday/Sunday on 3rd shift in Rock Hill, SC
Shift:3rd Shift: Friday – Sunday 7pm – 7am 
Pay: $31/hr
Type: Direct HireLocation: On-site. Rock Hill, SC 
Benefits options: 80% of health benefits paid.
Duties and ResponsibilitiesEmployee Management/Shift Management
  • Management of all production employees on shift, including:
    • Providing leadership and support.
    • Recognizing talent and providing recommendations for promotion, new skills, and advancement.
    • Approval of PTO/vacation time.
    • Disciplinary action as needed.
    • Hiring/firing input.
  • Responsible for the enforcement of safety policies, employee training, and policy implementation.
  • Treat all staff fairly and with respect.
  • Complete all shift paperwork.
  • Communicate with the Production Manager and office staff when write-ups or disciplinary actions are needed.
  • Understand all plant policies and enforce them.
  • Identify employee talent for promotion, training, and recognition.
  • Schedule employee coverage (when employees are off) for the shift.
  • Determine who is next on the call-in list when the shift is shorthanded (usually due to same-day callouts).
  • Attend and participate in weekly meetings with all shift supervisors.
  • Attend and participate in meetings with HR staff, office staff, and shift employees when disciplinary action is required.
  • Complete employee reviews with HR staff and recommend wage changes.
  • Conduct weekly safety and staff meetings with shift employees. The office will provide materials and topics to be covered.
Shift Safety
  • Ensure all shift employees follow all safety rules and regulations, including:
    • Wearing all PPE throughout the shift.
    • Wearing hard hats while operating the crane.
    • NEVER running machinery with a person inside.
    • Not wearing earbuds (to ensure awareness of safety alarms, forklift honks, and co-worker communication).
    • No cell phone use on the production floor.
    • Wearing special PPE for blade changes.
  • Conduct weekly safety briefs with all shift employees (materials provided).
  • Complete initial incident reports if there is an injury on the shift, documenting all relevant details.
Quality Control
  • Develop in-depth knowledge of every product specification in a timely manner.
  • Gain expertise in the complete production line and all machine functions.
  • Understand specs and spec variations and their impact on products.
  • Learn paper grades and perform normal changeovers with paper grade changes.
  • Master product recipes, machine settings, and adjustments.
  • Support all sections of the winder line, including winders, saws, and core winders.
  • Ensure production runs meet or exceed minimum speeds and rates.
  • Set all gaps, including lamination, embossing, and marriage roll feeds.
  • Understand onscreen adjustments and their effect on the product.
  • Perform quality checks at set intervals to verify specs are met.
    • Make adjustments if specs are not being met.
    • Conduct follow-up quality checks after adjustments.
  • Conduct routine inspections and quality tests, identifying issues such as embossing, lamination, and poly inconsistencies.
    • Check Gambini every 30 minutes.
    • Check the rest of the line every hour.
  • Ensure standards and safety regulations are met.
Product Specification Sheet
  • Identify SKU.
  • Identify parent roll material (substrate, grade, basis weight).
  • Identify perforation length.
  • Identify roll diameter.
  • Identify poly.
  • Identify boxes.
  • Identify pallet stack configuration.
  • Conduct UPC checks.
Change Over
  • Be familiar with and able to assist with all machine changeovers.
  • Understand changeovers and what needs to change from product to product.
  • Load and test recipes.
  • Support mechanical and electrical changes as needed.
  • Understand all alarms.
  • Know the line layout and flow.
  • Manage bottlenecks and their effect on production speed.
Line Layout
  • Identify triggered sensors.
  • Identify open door sensors.
  • Identify active joggers.
  • Identify safety features.
  • Identify unsafe features.
  • Understand raw material needs and usage.
  • Familiarize yourself with jobs and tasks related to each position on the line.
Waste Reduction
  • Work to minimize all forms of waste, including time.
  • Complete waste tracking forms.
  • Minimize the amount of paper wasted.
  • Run through holes in paper when possible.
  • Rerun logs when needed.
  • Maximize saw cuts.
  • Understand downtime and its effect on production and cost.
Waste Management
  • Work with operators and address issues on the floor in a timely manner.
    • Major issues should be addressed live while the roll is still on the floor.
  • Maintain timely communication between the office, operators, and shift leadership.
Housekeeping
  • Oversee and participate in housekeeping across the entire plant.
  • Enforce housekeeping responsibilities for each position as outlined in “Clean-Up Responsibilities” forms.
  • Ensure employees engage in housekeeping activities during downtime per the “Down Time Clean-Up Responsibilities” form.
    • Do not permit employees to sit idle or use cell phones.
Miscellaneous
  • Communicate problems, solutions, spec variations, maintenance needs, and downtime clearly, concisely, and promptly to the appropriate parties.
