Results-driven and hands-on Machinist Manager with a proven track record of effectively leading machinist.
Combines strong managerial skills with hands-on technical expertise in Manual and CNC machines.
Adept at optimizing maintenance processes to ensure equipment reliability and minimize downtime.
Skilled in training and mentoring teams to enhance overall machinist efficiency and effectiveness.
Must have:
Minimum of 5 years of experience in management.
Education: High school or equivalent (Required)
Manufacturing or machining: 5 years
Responsibility
Responsible for organizing, directing, and managing the day-to-day operations of two divisions within the company and overseeing 4 to 5 machinists/machine operators. ( Mills, lathes, manal and CNC machinist)
Implement and enforce company operational procedures, polices and standards and customer purchase orders and technical requirements.
Scheduling and production planning to meet and exceed customer’s required delivery schedule.
Daily monitoring and reporting of quality outputs of parts.
Assisting when and however necessary to meet delivery requirements (operating a machine, polishing, cleaning parts, packaging parts, or making deliveries as necessary).
Troubleshoot machining issues with machinists and machine operators.
Maintain inventory of raw materials, material traceability and paperwork regarding same.
Prepare weekly shipments of products.
Assist in the creation and implementation of quality control measures and work closely with the Quality Assurance Manager and machinists to determine root causes of issues, implement corrective actions and follow-up on compliance.
Create, maintain, and coordinate a routine maintenance schedule on company equipment.
Oversee and/or perform equipment, tooling and shop supply purchases, goods receipts, and inventory management for assigned divisions.
Assist in the creation of annual budgets and ensure adherence to budget.
Prepare detailed reporting for management, owners and customers as required.
Employee management, including but not limited to, hiring and terminating employees, employee discipline, employee evaluations, pay raises or reductions, general employee relations and legal compliance.
Work with Safety Manager to ensure health and safety policies and procedures are adhered to and implementation of employee safety training program.
Routinely assess the shop and employees to determine compliance with all federal, state, and local governmental safety laws and regulations and all company health and safety policies.
Aid in the investigation and documentation of work-related accidents and incidents, determine root causes, implement corrective actions and follow-up on compliance.
Continuous improvement of processes, equipment, and other aspects of production to create efficiency and drive down costs.
Skills
Ability to delegate and manage project/activity deadlines.
Knowledge of metal machining and the inner workings of a machine shop or production shop
Knowledge and application of precision measuring instruments, including calipers, ID and OD micrometers, depth gauges, indicators, and go/no-go gauges.
Ability to comprehend engineering drawings.
Knowledge of hand tools, tool holders, cutting tools
Ability to lift and hold up to 50 lbs.
Strong written and verbal skills and the ability to communicate clearly and concisely.
