Lingo Staffing is hiring a Machinist for a Manufacturer in Roanoke, VA!
Machinist - Roanoke, VA Shift: 1st Shift, hours may vary depending on needs *May require overtime* Type: Temp to Perm or Direct Hire Pay: Dependant on experience Location: Roanoke, VA 24018 Industry: Skilled Trade
Key Responsibilities:
• Review routing, work order, blueprints, Bill of Material, or other work specifications to conceptualize part(s) to be built
• Compute fabrication dimensions and plan the sequence of work steps to be taken
• Measure and mark raw metal block to lay out machining work, using required measurement devices
• Set up and operate both manual and CNC machinery to fabricate parts per routings or other instructions
• Heat-treat and grind final parts as necessary
• Inspect finished parts to verify alignments and clearances for dimensional quality compliance
• Fit and assemble final parts, using fasteners and other required hand tools, per routing instructions
• Smooth and polish flat and contoured surfaces of final part(s), using appropriate abrasive tools
• Understand and follow all quality-related standards and documentation
• Determine proper disposition of non-conforming product as directed
· Other duties as assigned
Requirements:
Must have experience with Computer Numerical Control (CNC)
Must have acquired proficient machining through either formal instruction from a vocational school, technical center, high school or state/association apprenticeship, or equivalent experience in a manufacturing environment
Must have advanced understanding of print schematics/blueprints
Must be proficient in shop math, including trigonometry, metric conversions and linear measurement
Must be comfortable with extensive troubleshooting/problem solving
Must be able to handle repetitive activities with concentration and patience
Must be comfortable with on-the-job training, cross-training and training other toolmakers
Must be able to read, comprehend and carry out very detailed instructions, both written and oral
Preferred Qualifications:
High School Diploma or Equivalent
Must have good hand/eye coordination
Fine Motor skills
Close/color vision
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
Ability to bend/stoop, and stand and sit for extended periods of time.
