Material Handler
Job Summary
The Material Handler is responsible for moving lens jobs through the lab and making sure orders stay on schedule. This role helps keep work flowing smoothly by prioritizing jobs, stocking workstations, and spotting delays before they impact customers.
Key Responsibilities
Move job trays between lab departments (Surfacing, Coating, Finishing, Inspection)
Monitor job progress and make sure work is completed in the correct order
Identify and rush high-priority or expedited orders
Keep workstations stocked with lens blanks, pads, alloys, and chemicals
Perform regular inventory counts to prevent shortages
Scan barcodes and update job status using the Lab Management System
Prepare trays with the correct tools and materials for technicians
Skills & Qualifications
Strong attention to detail, especially with different lens types and coatings
Ability to stand and walk for long periods in a fast-paced environment
Comfortable using barcode scanners and basic computer systems
Good organization skills and ability to manage many small items
Clear communication skills and ability to report delays or issues to supervisors
