Working within a fast-paced, high-volume laboratory environment, this position is responsible for processing surfaced, blocked, and coated lens blanks and preparing them for final frame integration. The role emphasizes precision lens edging, custom frame fitting, structural mounting, and preparation for quality inspection. Intricate Frame Mounting & Mechanical Benchwork
Perform manual bench tasks including safety edging, pin beveling, hand beveling, and groove creation for semi-rimless frame styles.
Complete precision drilling and assembly for rimless eyewear using compression plugs, screw-and-nut systems, or other structural mounting methods.
Fit and secure edged lenses into a variety of frame materials including plastic, metal, composite, and sport-style frames.
Apply controlled heat to acetate and plastic frames using appropriate warming equipment to safely expand eye wires and minimize risk of lens damage or coating stress during insertion.
Conduct detailed visual inspections and prepare finished products for final quality control review.
Maintain accuracy and consistency while meeting production timelines in a high-volume manufacturing environment.
Experience & Qualification Requirements
Minimum of 1–2 years of bench experience in an optical production laboratory or related finishing environment preferred.
Experience operating lens edging or precision milling equipment strongly preferred.
Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to interpret lens prescriptions, frame measurements, and production specifications.
Proficiency using laboratory hand tools, frame warming equipment, alignment verification tools, and frame tracing devices.
Ability to work independently while maintaining a high level of attention to detail and craftsmanship.
Physical & Environmental Demands
Excellent manual dexterity and steady hand-eye coordination required for handling small components, tension screws, nylon cords, and precision tools.
Ability to stand and remain active throughout extended shifts in a production setting.
Comfortable working in an environment with moderate equipment and machinery noise.
Ability to lift and move light production materials and perform repetitive hand movements throughout the shift.
