Position Summary
Detail-oriented Emissions & Diagnostic Testing Technician to perform emissions testing, vehicle inspections, and diagnostic evaluations for cars and trucks. This role plays a key part in ensuring vehicles meet emissions standards while supporting accurate diagnosis and efficient repairs. The ideal candidate has 5+ years of Automobile and truck mechanic, mechanical aptitude, diagnostic experience, and a strong commitment to safety, quality and excellent communication skills. Key Responsibilities
Perform emissions testing in compliance with state and federal regulations
Conduct initial vehicle inspections and diagnostic testing on cars and trucks
Use diagnostic scanners and testing equipment to identify mechanical and electrical issues
Accurately document test results, inspection findings, and diagnostic data
Communicate findings clearly to technicians, service advisors, and management
Ensure vehicles meet emissions requirements prior to release
Ensure proper tagging, tracking, and flow of vehicles through the shop
Maintain proper records and compliance documentation
Assist with vehicle intake and workflow coordination as needed
Automotive or truck mechanical experience preferred
Emissions testing procedures and equipment
Experience using diagnostic scan tools
Strong understanding of vehicle systems (engine, electrical, brakes, suspension, etc.)
Experience using diagnostic scanners and testing equipment
Ability to accurately document findings and communicate clearly
Basic computer skills for data entry and service systems
Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
Valid driver’s license (clean driving record)
Preferred Qualifications
Previous service advisor, technician, or diagnostic role experience
Experience working with automobiles and heavy-duty trucks
ASE certifications (a plus, not required)
