Auto  Mechanic
*****Emissions & Diagnostic Testing Technician 

$25-38 an hour based on Experience 
Location Cheswick, PA
Hours 8am- 5pm Monday to Friday

Position Summary
Detail-oriented Emissions & Diagnostic Testing Technician to perform emissions testing, vehicle inspections, and diagnostic evaluations for cars and trucks. This role plays a key part in ensuring vehicles meet emissions standards while supporting accurate diagnosis and efficient repairs. The ideal candidate has 5+ years of Automobile and truck mechanic, mechanical aptitude, diagnostic experience, and a strong commitment to safety, quality and excellent communication skills.
Key Responsibilities
  • Perform emissions testing in compliance with state and federal regulations
  • Conduct initial vehicle inspections and diagnostic testing on cars and trucks
  • Use diagnostic scanners and testing equipment to identify mechanical and electrical issues
  • Accurately document test results, inspection findings, and diagnostic data
  • Communicate findings clearly to technicians, service advisors, and management
  • Ensure vehicles meet emissions requirements prior to release
  • Ensure proper tagging, tracking, and flow of vehicles through the shop
  • Maintain proper records and compliance documentation
  • Assist with vehicle intake and workflow coordination as needed
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
  • Follow all company safety policies and procedures
Required Qualifications
  • Pennsylvania emissions and/or safety inspection certification
  • Automotive or truck mechanical experience preferred
  • Emissions testing procedures and equipment
  • Experience using diagnostic scan tools
  • Strong understanding of vehicle systems (engine, electrical, brakes, suspension, etc.)
  • Experience using diagnostic scanners and testing equipment
  • Ability to accurately document findings and communicate clearly
  • Basic computer skills for data entry and service systems
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Valid driver’s license (clean driving record)
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous service advisor, technician, or diagnostic role experience
  • Experience working with automobiles and heavy-duty trucks
  • ASE certifications (a plus, not required)
