The Manager, Plant Maintenance leads equipment installation, start-up, and maintenance for the plant.
This position also manages outside vendor relationships and provides project management of maintenance projects as well as leadership, guidance and strategic planning of the maintenance team to achieve the department’s goals.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESAdditional duties and responsibilities may be assigned, as necessary. Preventative Maintenance (15%)
Perform routine tasks such as greasing bearings, changing belts, changing oil, performing inspections, cleaning equipment, etc to maintain equipment reliability.
Support production workers during routine preventative maintenance activities; (TPM).
Optimize machine output by maximizing machine cycle times.
Identify key preventative tasks and implement company CMMS, to increase machine reliability.
Equipment Repair (5%)
Install, repair, and maintain machinery and mechanical equipment.
Dismantle machinery to remove or replace defective parts.
Optimize use of maintenance resources by using equipment and supplies needed to repair equipment to OEM standards.
Repair facility and building items as needed.
Equipment Troubleshooting (10%)
Identify complex electrical, mechanical and pneumatic problems on production machinery and facility equipment.
Locates sources of problems by observing machinery in operation.
Ensure all work performed gets logged into the Company CMMS.
Complete end of shift reports communicating between maintenance and production departments.
Order replacement parts for stock or parts for repair.
Work with other departments to schedule downtime for repairs.
Manage PO’s, invoices, department budget, safety and compliance tracking. Represent maintenance on cross-function projects and meetings.
Performing housekeeping, making sure area is always clean.
Managing outside contractors to complete large scale projects in the plant such as lighting repairs, new equipment installations, facility upkeep and upgrades, etc.Contractor and Project Management (20%)
Assist engineering department with onsite contractors when engineering cannot be present.
Identify and define tasks that will be handled by outside contractors or with in-house maintenance technicians.
Manage Team (20%)
Prioritize and allocate work: Delegate and allocate manageable goals to employees to support company priorities and drive results.
Clearly define to team-members project responsibilities and performance expectations for long- and short-term work plans. Set clear priorities for team and individuals, including appropriate allocation of resources (time, money and people).
Assess and Reward Performance: Provide team with timely, fair and measured performance assessments and feedback to foster growth.
Provide reward and recognition for performance as appropriate. Address performance concerns and hold team accountable.
Build Team Culture: Consistently hold employees accountable for upholding the organization’s values.
Proactively manage unhealthy conflict among employees and take steps to prevent escalation.
Foster an open environment where employees feel able to provide constructive feedback and suggestions for improvement.
Communicate and Motivate: Communicate regular business updates. Convey information in a clear and timely manner. Listen carefully to the views and opinions of peers and colleagues.
REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONSEducation and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in related field or Technical Certificate or equivalent experience.
10+ Years experience maintaining and repairing equipment in a manufacturing environment.
2+ years’ experience managing team of maintenance professionals.
Specialized Skills and Experience:
Strong computer skills including Microsoft programs (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
AutoCAD experience preferred.
Basic IT Knowledge of IP Addresses and Routers highly desirable.
Experience with CMMS software.
Able to read and interpret blueprints and electric schemes.
Familiar with LEAN principles and techniques.
strong experience with PLCs (download and set parameters)
