Indirect Buyer / Procurement Specialist (Direct Hire)

Seeking an experienced Indirect Buyer / Procurement Specialist to support purchasing operations for a manufacturing facility. This role is responsible for sourcing indirect materials, equipment, and services while driving cost savings, supplier performance, and procurement process improvements. The ideal candidate will have experience in a multi-site manufacturing environment, strong ERP knowledge, and the ability to collaborate across operations, finance, and supply chain teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage sourcing, supplier selection, and negotiations for indirect goods and services in accordance with procurement policies.
  • Oversee indirect spending categories including MRO, spare parts, consumables, professional services, and office supplies.
  • Build and maintain supplier relationships while monitoring supplier performance, pricing, quality, and delivery.
  • Ensure compliance with procurement systems, preferred supplier programs, catalogs, and purchasing policies.
  • Manage purchase requisition to purchase order (PR-to-PO) workflows and resolve purchasing and invoice discrepancies.
  • Serve as the procurement systems subject matter expert, providing user training and process support.
  • Support inventory optimization through product standardization, supplier consolidation, repair/rebuild programs, and parts substitution initiatives.
  • Coordinate vendor setup and maintenance, master data accuracy, and ERP purchasing records.
  • Develop and analyze procurement metrics, spend reports, compliance reporting, and cost-saving initiatives.
  • Partner with operations, maintenance, finance, accounts payable, and supply chain teams to ensure uninterrupted plant support and continuous improvement.
  • Support facility management initiatives, inventory optimization projects, and other procurement-related initiatives assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, or a related field preferred; Associate degree with 5-7+ years of relevant procurement experience will also be considered.
  • Experience purchasing indirect materials within a manufacturing environment, preferably supporting multiple facilities.
  • Strong supplier negotiation, sourcing, and contract management experience.
  • Hands-on experience with ERP systems (SAP or similar) and eProcurement platforms.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving abilities
  • Travel: Less than 5% (primarily domestic).
